The Green Patch

Lucy’s story

Lucy’s story

Lucy Oliver-Carton, 80, comes to Green Patch for a sense of tranquillity she can’t get anywhere else. Lucy describes Green Patch as ‘undemanding and gorgeous’ and enjoys being at one with nature in the little pocket of peace that is Green Patch.

“I first came to Green Patch a few years ago and have built a strong connection with the place. I now come with my grandson who loves playing in the mud kitchen, something that I have never thought of doing with him.

The unique ideas that Green Patch have with crafts and activities often inspire me to try them at home, and we now have a mud kitchen at home for him much to my grandson’s delight!

I still come down to Green Patch if I’m not with him, there’s a sense of peace like no other at Green Patch, its undemanding and gorgeous. This was once described to me as a ‘third home’ and to me it is exactly this - it’s a sanctuary.

One of my favourite things is to spend time with the chickens. I always get my eggs from Green Patch, I can collect them myself, package them up and put in a donation. It is really special, and the produce is so fresh.”
